Eighteen-year-old Xiaomeng Zeng, a senior at Iowa City’s West High School, won seventh place (a $20,000 scholarship) in the national Intel Science Talent Search competition for her study on whether public library funding from government sources adversely affects funding from private sources, or vice versa.
